Uber and Wayve Launch Licensed Self-Driving Robotaxis in London

Fifteen driverless Wayve cars are cleared for Uber's London launch, with safety drivers riding along until they aren't.

Transport for London has licensed 15 Wayve autonomous vehicles for Uber robotaxi service, marking the first deployment of AI-driven taxis in London. Initially, safety drivers will be present, but the AI system will control the vehicles. Over 100,000 people have registered for the service, which launches this summer.
